ECRHA Annual Columbus Weekend Event

In Feasterville, PA, the Colonials participated in the ECRHA's Annual Columbus Day Weekend event. Although just preseason games, the weekend helps teams figure out what they need to improve before the regular season begins in a few weeks. The Colonials went 0-3 during the weekend, but there were some positive things to take away.

With Captain Dan Trunk out of the lineup until the spring (recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery), the returning blueliners: Senior Mark Hilderhoff, Senior Nick Brandt and Junior Ricky Scott as well as Freshman defenseman, Cam Zahn, had to get used to pairings changes and TOI increases. The defense and veteran graduate student goaltender Paul Schreiber (formally of the Penn State Nittany Lions), held West Chester to four goals in their debut game.

Sophomore Forward Sean Lawrence, led the team with four points in three games. Sophomore Jesse Zahn and Senior Chris Sarni also saw the scoresheet in games versus Rowan University and the University of Massachusetts. The Colonials look to improve their offensive game when they kick off the regular season in Grove City, PA at the end of October.

They also will look to cut back penalties, after taking seven penalties in their final game against UMass. Although they went 0-3 during the preseason weekend, they look to continue building off their defensive success and hope to improve on their record from last season and earn another birth to the National Championships.

RMU will face rival Cortland and Slippery Rock University on October 21st in Grove City, PA. These will be the only "local" games for the Colonials, so they hope to see support from fellow students, friends, and family. Let's Go Bobby Mo!
