Colonials Receive Bid to 2018 National Championship

For the third consecutive year, the Robert Morris Colonials receive a bid to the 2018 National Championship. This year the tournament takes place in Fargo, North Dakota.

NCRHA Division 1 Bids

Bobby Mo finished the regular season with a 6-10-2 record which was good for 7th place in the ECRHA. The league will be releasing rankings prior to the National Championship which will give us a good idea of what pool they will be in Fargo.

The Colonials battled hard this season after losing last season's scoring leader and team Captain Dan Trunk (ACL surgery). Although Trunk is working hard to return healthy for next season, it was good to see so many other players show up on the scoresheet throughout the 2017-18 season. The ECRHA Division 1 is one of (if not) the toughest divisions in the NCRHA. Battling with some of the toughest teams in the country does not go unnoticed. RMU finished their regular season with an overtime loss to Neumann (who went on to the ECRHA Championship game versus Farmingdale). Although brother's Jesse and Cam Zahn led the team in scoring, offensive play by Matt Smeltzer, Sean Lawrence, and and Nick Benjamin did not go unnoticed. Even defensemen, Nick Brandt and David Waxter showed up on the scoresheet this season. Goaltender Paul Schreiber was one of the biggest reasons the Colonials stayed competitive with the top teams in the country. If this play continues into North Dakota, Robert Morris could be one of the black horses in this year's National Championship.
